The Pungo Strawberry festival 2010
Pungo Strawberry Festival is organized on Memorial Day weekend and it has started today. The community of Virginia is often recognized by this large festival. The organizers of the show claim it be a non profitable organization which is working for the welfare of the local farmers.
Held in Virginia Beach’s charming farming community, this annual strawberry celebration features plenty of plump, fresh strawberries, a parade, musical entertainment on three stages, 4-H displays, a large carnival, children’s activity area and more than 100 arts and crafts vendors. At Princess Anne Road and Indian River Road.
The Pungo Strawberry festival 2010 is here once again on Saturday 29th May. The venue of this spectacular festival is Virginia Beach. This coastal side is surrounded by many farms. Hence in order to promote the hard work and efforts of local farmers each year, Pungo Strawberry festival is organized near or at Virginia Beach.
Along with beautiful beaches, Virginia Beach has miles and miles of beautiful farmland. We call this area Pungo and every year the Pungo Strawberry Festival is held on Memorial Day weekend. This year we are estimating attendance of 120,000 over the two day event. Not only does the Festival have all the strawberries you can eat. Offered in over 50 different ways, activities include a pie eating contest, strawberry bake-off, continuous entertainment on three stages, a parade, one of the largest carnivals on the east coast, livestock show and sale, a multi-million dollar military display, pig races, youth art show, and arts and craft booths. This Festival has grown from nearly 50,000 in 1983 to its present size of over 120,000.
This two day event is expected to hail more than 120,000 visitors this year. The best part of the festival is that it is not limited to the variety of strawberry stalls. It has a lot and a lot more to offer. The festival is aimed to show many different ways of eating and using strawberries. Hence the chefs and the farmers show around 50 ways to eat strawberry. More over there are many fun games on the festival for the visitors as well which include pie eating contest, live stock show, pig race and a baking competition.
The Strawberry festival brings cheers and happiness on many faces as this is the source of natural and original joy without any artificial flavors.
So rush out for this beautiful and unique festival if you too want to try a fresh Strawberry pie.
