Mysterious new object in space
A strange and mysterious new object in space may the brightest and long-lasting “micro-quasar” seen thus far, a miniature version of the brightest objects in the universe.
The object suddenly began pumping out radio waves last year in the relatively nearby galaxy M82, some 10 million light-years away. Its discovery was announced Tuesday.

3D-capable Blu-ray player
So you finally took the plunge on a wall-filling flat-screen TV set, swapped the DVD player for a Blu-ray deck and strung expensive HDMI cables between them. Samsung releases Australia’s first 3D TV this week, with its LED-LCD 7000 series starting at $2899 for the 40-inch model. The mid-size 46-inch screen sells for $3699, with a 55-inch panel perched at $4799.

Cosmopolitan Eels Span the Oceans
Moray eels, the slender fish that inspired the movie “Alien,” are turning out to be odder than what’s on the surface. New research suggests the 150-plus eel species feed on the same fish and have similar genetics.
The finding puts a wrench in how scientists thought species came to be, with one mechanism including geographic isolation. Essentially, an underwater mountain, say, keeps organisms from intermixing and over thousands to millions of years new species emerge.
