Protest against Queen’s Guards fur caps, Corrie Star Kate Ford Poses Nude
Coronation Street star Kate Ford has bared all as part of a poster campaign urging the Ministry of Defence to stop using bearskin for The Queen’s Guards’ caps.
The actress said she was angry about the suffering that bears in Canada endured when they were baited, shot, killed and skinned just to be part of British soldiers’ uniforms.
Ford took part in campaign as her character Tracy Barlow returned to Corrie this week after being allowed out from prison for her grandmother’s funeral. (more…)
NASA Clears Atlantis for Final Liftoff on Friday
Space shuttle Atlantis has been cleared for liftoff. Mission managers on Wednesday gave the go-ahead for the countdown to proceed toward Friday afternoon’s planned launch. It will be the 32nd and final flight for Atlantis.
Everything is looking good for an on-time launch at 2:20 p.m. Managers are tracking no technical troubles, and forecasters say there’s a 70 percent chance the weather will cooperate. (more…)
