NEW YORK, metro-reality.com – The nation’s largest fireworks show lit up the skies in a burst of red, white and blue over the Hudson River straddling New York and New Jersey on Sunday, a scene that was being repeated in hundreds of communities in a sizzling end to a scorching day for much of the U.S.
“It’s amazing on TV,” said Marcos Jimenez, a golf caddy who joined thousands of others lining the riverfront for a prime view of the show. “I figured seeing it live would be even better.”

A small church in Argentina, visited by thousands of pilgrims after hearing the news of blood running down face a picture of Jesus Christ.
A red substance was photographed running from the forehead of Jesus and down his cheek in a church depiction of the Last Supper.
Local priest Father Jorge Gandur said the ‘ooze comes from one of the wounds on the left side of the forehead of Christ produced by the crown of thorns’.
The stains were first noticed on Friday by two men who had entered the Oratory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Yerba Buena, Tucuman province.

Pungo Strawberry Festival is organized on Memorial Day weekend and it has started today. The community of Virginia is often recognized by this large festival. The organizers of the show claim it be a non profitable organization which is working for the welfare of the local farmers.

US court: Asylum to Obama’s African Aunt Granted
A U.S. immigration court has granted asylum to President Barack Obama’s African aunt, allowing her to stay in the country and setting her on the road to citizenship after years of legal wrangling, her attorneys announced Monday.
The decision was made by a judge in U.S. Immigration Court in Boston and mailed out Friday. It comes three months after Kenya native Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Obama’s late father, testified at a closed hearing in Boston.

Under Mojave Desert, California Doomsday Safe-Haven Offered
A company with a doomsday plan is taking money for what it promises will be a comfortable, nuke-proof bunker under the Mojave Desert, with an atrium, gym and jail, and sloppy joes and pearl potatoes on the menu.
Robert Vicino, who runs the Del Mar-based company called Vivos, has collected deposits on half the 132 spaces planned in the 13,000-square-foot bunker in Barstow.
The facility is among several popping up across the country as fears of doomsday have been fueled recently by strong earthquakes, terrorism and predictions of the world’s end in 2012 when the ancient Mayan calendar is said to end. More >

Rarely there is herring that has a body length of up to 3.5 meters. This giant herring found off the west coast of Sweden. “The first Herrings roughly the same size found in Sweden about 131 years ago,” said the marine museum.
